Cross Country Weavers New Zealand

The idea behind Cross Country Weaves is to foster handweaving by exchanging samples, and therefore experiences and ideas with those of mutual interest. Because many of us work in isolated areas where it is difficult to find like-minded people this seems to be a perfect opportunity to exchange, share and learn from each other.

At present there are three groups of up to ten members, each led by one participant of the group. A coordinator oversees the groups and in consultation with the group leaders, sets a special topic for one of the two samples for the year. The other sample woven is the weaver's own choice and often is part of their current work. These samples will then have to be sent to all the other members of the group by the end of February.

LIBRARY

An additional set of samples is sent by each weaver to the librarian who sorts them into suitable groupings for study by whoever may wish to use them. By now they have a huge range of topics and samples available for study. Against a small fee of $ 5 you can request these from:

Agnes Hauptli, 827 Oruru Road, RD 2, KAITAIA 0500
e-mail: ahauptli@orcon.net.nz

Request any topic you like and this will be catered for from the collection as far as possible. This is a wonderful opportunity to enrich weaving knowledge, plan a project or for use in a study group. This offer is for within New Zealand only.
