2004 - Moving things.......seems to dictate my work in this year. Still very much influenced by my luck of being able to attend Bonnie Inouye's workshop when she was here in New Zealand I play around with network threadings and treadlings. The fine Possum blended yarn (Merino, Possum and Silk) is still one of my favourite yarns to use, especially when painting the warp as this yarn is only available in its natural colour which is sort of a greyish-beigy colour. But fine Alpaca (28/2Nm), a very fine blend of wool/silk (60/2Nm) also also high on my list of favourite yarns to use.

These shawls are woven on a 16 shaft loom on a network drafted threading and each one of them woven with a different tie up and treadling. The warp is the 90/2 TEX Possum/Merino/Silk blended yarn and has been painted before warping up the loom. Wefts are different in each one of them.
one of my favourites at the moment, the Tencel weft gives it a bit more body. Also woven on the same warp as the ones above.
On the far left am using a commercially multicoloured dyed woollen yarn with a hand dyed Possum blend weft.

Left a shawl I made after finding out that I am going to be a great aunt soon!

 Playing with Rep Weave

Deflected double weave is another structure I love to play around with at the moment. So far I have only tried it using two colours and the one on the left is after a sample from Cross country weavers.  In both these scarves I have used a fine merino yarn in warp and weft, the result is very soft, cuddly scarves.
